Governance
Policy dialogue, implementation and public accountability across state, municipal and institutional levels.
A city-wide platform bringing together government, communities, young people, researchers, innovators, businesses and development partners to turn climate priorities into practical action across Ibadan and Oyo State.
Ibadan Climate Week is designed to move the city from conversation to collaboration, from collaboration to commitments, and from commitments to projects, finance and accountability.
Oyo State has entered a significant period of climate-policy development. The State published the Oyo State Climate Action Plan (OYCAP) 2026–2040 in August 2026, setting out a long-term framework addressing climate risks and identifying opportunities around resilience, green jobs, renewable energy, recycling, waste-to-energy, tree planting and climate finance.
ICW is designed to complement this policy direction by creating a practical civic and investment interface where ideas, evidence, communities, institutions and resources can connect.
Each pillar addresses a vital component required to transition Southwestern Nigeria from vulnerability to sustainable prosperity.
Policy dialogue, implementation and public accountability across state, municipal and institutional levels.
Climate finance, project preparation, investor matchmaking and catalytic funding for bankable green enterprise.
ClimateTech, youth solutions, research translation, prototype testing and local incubation pipelines.
Farmers, traders, neighbourhoods, schools, women leaders and grassroots resilience in flood-prone corridors.
Storytelling, Yoruba-language climate communication, visual arts, investigative media and civic engagement.
Engineered to move beyond speeches into tangible deals, policy briefs, and grassroots empowerment.
A pipeline-based innovation challenge across climate and data, agriculture, circular economy, energy, resilient cities, nature and culture.
Field-based activities connecting climate action with flood risk, agriculture, markets, schools, women, youth and local-language communication.
Climate stories, Yoruba-language media, arts, exhibitions, public walks, journalism engagement and creative programming that take ICW beyond conference rooms.
We set clear, measurable metrics across civic participation, project financing, and institutional accountability.
Ibadan Climate Week operates under strict governance and integrity standards. In alignment with our Master Concept Note, prospective institutional partners, government bodies, academic institutions, and international development funders are engaged through formal bilateral agreements. Only formally confirmed partners receive public co-branding.
Whether you are a young person with an idea, a community leader with a challenge, a researcher with evidence, a business with resources, or an institution ready to act — there is a place for you in Ibadan Climate Week.
